Are you a self-starter with the ability to analyze a problem and communicate solutions to management? The Senior Manufacturing Engineer role supports both new and existing business by collaborating with sales, purchasing, operations, and engineering to develop and improve manufacturing processes. This includes overseeing manufacturing tooling requirements, product material selection, machine upgrades, automation, and other changes to improve Tanis Operational Excellence. As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be focused on developing, maintaining, and operating manufacturing systems to support customer growth through new business. This role is responsible for keeping production costs down while continuously improving safety and quality, as well as leading Tanis manufacturing process changes to keep or improve margins. Ability to manage new equipment projects and high proficiency in SolidWorks is critical to the success of this role.

Pay Range
$100,000-$110,000 Annually with annual bonus opportunity

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • •    Ensure that the company’s manufacturing processes follow safety regulations and requirements while driving quality and safety standards.
    •    Produces new product models and drawings according to customer requirements.
    •    Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex manufacturing issues and implement fast, effective solutions.
    •    Apply knowledge of product design, materials, machines, tooling, and inspection to increase production efficiency, maintain and improve costs, and review production variances.
    •    Conduct time studies and experiments and evaluate data.
    •    Develop, implement and document standards for manufacturing processes.
    •    Participate in the development of work instructions and continuous improvement projects
    •    Advise on and implement new equipment for manufacturing and confer with equipment vendors.
    •    Design and validate new tooling and machinery for production processes.
    •    Evaluate, purchase and install new equipment.
    •    Participate and/or lead manufacturing projects to gain new business to budget and on time.
    •    Lead and participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement projects.
    •    Facilitate training and mentoring of other employees to improve speed and quality of work to support new business (Cross training).
    •    Perform other duties as assigned.

     
Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to be customer facing
  • Ability to prioritize and partner accordingly to manage multiple projects
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Suite, SolidWorks, and ERP system
    • Knowledgeable in Excel including Formulas, Filtering and Pivot tables
  • Self-starter with the ability to analyze a problem and propose a solution to management
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (<5% of time)

Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering
  • 3 or more years of SolidWorks experience
  • 1 or more years of Project Management experience relating to equipment development
Nice to Haves
  • Automation experience in a factory setting
  • Formal training in Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, and 5S
  • Experience with ISO9001-13485
  • SolidWorks PDM & ERP system experience
  • Machine qualification experience (IQ-OQ-PQ)

  • No direct reports
